Narrative:

A Pellitteri garbage truck used for data shredding and disposal was pulled over near the intersection of Eastpark Blvd. and N. Biltmore Lane Tuesday after the driver smelled and saw smoke coming from the back of it.

Engine Company 11 was called to the scene, and they noted white/yellow smoke coming out of the storage area of the truck. Firefighters connected a hose to a nearby hydrant and prepared to open the rear of the truck.

The driver opened the back doors and dumped the load of trash onto the street. Engine 11 extinguished the fire, and no damage was done to the truck.

Pellitteri employees  removed all the paper from the street and cleaned up the area after the fire was extinguished.

“Excellent job by Pellitteri’s crew,” said Engine 11’s officer.

It's not known how the fire began.
