Narrative: 

An aggressive fire attack by Madison firefighters kept an apartment fire contained to the room of origin, preventing extensive damage to the 8-unit apartment building.
Madison Fire Department was dispatched to the 700 block of Brandie Road at 5:34 p.m. for a fire alarm. Ladder 8, Engine 8 and Medic 8 all arrived within minutes. The call came in from the resident who reported the kitchen stove was on fire. 
Upon Ladder 8’s arrival the occupant directed them to the second floor apartment.
Firefighters entered the common hallway through the front door of the building, encountering heavy smoke and heat. The stove and kitchen area was fully involved.  Madison Fire Fighters quickly extinguished the fire with knock down time within minutes. Following knockdown, firefighters checked for fire extension and used positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke
Smoke and fire damage was limited to the single apartment.  No injuries were reported at the scene. 
Fire investigator determined the damages are estimated at $30,000. The Red Cross is assisting the occupants.
