Narrative: 

Five people were taken to local hospitals following a crash on the east side. One vehicle was believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed.

MFD Fire and EMS personnel responded to the 300 block of N. Sixth Street, where the two-vehicle crash occurred. One vehicle had been occupied by four people and was found resting against a retaining wall in a residential front yard. Two people were able to let themselves out of the vehicle, but two others were trapped in the backseat. Ladder Co. 8 extricated a trapped occupant from the backseat as Engine 3 and Medic 3 removed the second occupant from the opposite side. A second vehicle, a small SUV occupied by one individual, was found near the first with front-end and side damage. Firefighters searched nearby areas and underneath the vehicles for additional victims, finding none.

All five people involved in the crash reported injuries that appeared to be non-life threatening. Medic 10 and Medic 3 transported a total of two people to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. Medic 5 transported two patients, both teenagers, to American Family Children’s Hospital. Medic 8 transported one patient to University Hospital.
