Arrival:
Sunday, August 28, 2022 - 6:07pm
Address:
300 block W. Dayton Street
Madison, WI
Narrative:

Firefighters were called to an apartment in downtown Madison for a water problem. Engine Co. 1 met with an occupant who stated they were mounting a TV and thought they’d found a stud. However, they actually hit a water line when drilling into the wall. The occupant reported water was now pouring out of the wall and into their unit.

Firefighters went up to the apartment and found water shooting in a stream out of the wall. Two firefighters remained in the unit to control the water flow. Two other firefighters went to another room to shut down the water supply from the automatic fire sprinkler system.

Building maintenance arrived, and firefighters explained that the building would be without fire sprinkler protection until the pipe could be repaired. With arrangements being made for clean-up and repair, firefighters cleared from the call at 6:24 p.m.
