Narrative:

A full structure fire response was dispatched to Dempsey Road, just off Milwaukee Street, after 911 callers reported black smoke in the first-floor hallway of a multi-unit residential building.

Engine Company 5 saw nothing showing as they arrived on scene. Firefighters located the 911 caller, who explained exactly where the smoke was. Engine 5 proceeded into the building and found a light haze of smoke down a hallway. They gained entry into five apartments nearby and quickly discerned that one of the occupants was cleaning her oven. Firefighters checked adjacent apartments and ruled out any other issues.

Ladder Company ventilated the building as Engine 5 reset the fire alarm and the pull stations that had been activated by concerned tenants. Everybody was welcomed back inside.
