Arrival:
Thursday, August 18, 2016 - 10:07am
Address:
Buena Vista St.
Madison, WI
Narrative:

While spreading gravel on a residential driveway Thursday, one man found himself trapped inside his Bobcat utility vehicle.

He says the fuel pump relay fuse had blown, causing the Bobcat to stall in the driveway. With the bucket tipped down onto a pile of gravel, the Bobcat couldn’t lower all the way down to the ground. This prevented the door from opening enough to allow him to get out.

The man was trapped for a significant amount of time before a neighbor arrived home to call for help. Furthermore, the breakdown happened in direct sunlight, and he was getting hot.

Once Ladder Company 8 and Engine Company 10 arrived on scene they were able to remove the door of the Bobcat by lifting it out of its hinges. Firefighters assisted the man in replacing the blown fuse, and they gave him water and Gatorade to drink.

After that, the man stated he was fine and needed no further care.
