Madison firefighters were called to a dock along the Lakeshore Path Saturday when a dog became trapped underneath.
 
Asked not to use sirens for fear they might scare the dog, Engine Company 4 arrived to the area near the UW Marching Band field just before 7:00 p.m.
 
The dog was found between the floats and deck boards of the dock. Two firefighters entered the water to attempt to remove the dog from the water. The dog was quite agitated, however, and not amenable to the firefighters’ efforts.  
 
Firefighters ultimately dismantled a portion of the dock, lifted the dog out from above, and reunited it with its owner.
