Tuesday, February 21, 2017 - 10:42am
Arrival:
Tuesday, February 21, 2017 - 10:47am
Address:
200 block E. Olin Ave.
Madison, WI 53703
Narrative:

Employees at an Olin Ave. business said they smelled something burning when they opened the office Tuesday morning. When they started to see ash falling from the ceiling, they decided it was time to call 911.

There were no signs of fire as Ladder Company 6 and other MFD crews arrived on scene. They began investigating the issue, checking the HVAC system from the interior and on the roof, and consulted with on-site maintenance staff.

It’s believed something may have burned inside the heating system. Building maintenance also stated they’ve been having trouble with some of the belts in the system.

After a thorough investigation of the system and the environment, firefighters determined there was no threat of fire. Maintenance remained on scene to continue looking at the HVAC system.
