Arrival:
Thursday, July 6, 2017 - 11:06pm
Address:
1800 block Lynndale Road
Madison, WI 53719
Narrative:

A carbon monoxide (CO) alarm activation is what prompted residents on Lynndale Road to call 911.

Ladder Company 7 responded to the home, where air monitoring equipment indicated CO readings around 20 parts per million (ppm) upon entry. As they continued to search the home, CO levels climbed to 60 ppm in the basement. There were no gas appliances in the home except a water heater.

Firefighters opened windows to facilitate ventilation, and MGE confirmed that the water heater was the source of the CO problem. MGE said it would cap a pipe to contain the leak, and the occupant was advised to call a plumber.
