Arrival:
Wednesday, October 7, 2015 - 2:50pm
Address:
500 block N. Lawn Ave.
Madison, WI
Narrative:

A Madison woman extinguished a cooking fire in her kitchen Wednesday, and she called the Madison Fire Department to help clear the residual smoke that filled the apartment.

When Engine 10 arrived, the woman and her two children were awaiting firefighters on an outside balcony. She said she didn’t want to walk through the apartment for fear of “contaminating the kids’ lungs with smoke.”

Firefighters used a 24-foot ladder to gain access to the apartment. Once inside, they found a light haze of smoke and began ventilating. The apartment was clear within a couple of minutes and the family returned indoors.
