Firefighters Called For Malfunctioning Elevator At UW Dorm

Narrative:
Ladder Company 6 came to the aid of eight students trapped inside an elevator at Sellery Residence Hall on W. Johnson Street.
The elevator was reported to be stuck on the 5th floor, so a firefighter and Ladder 6’s Apparatus Engineer proceeded up the stairs. As they were attempting to open the elevator door, the car returned to normal operation and moved away.
The elevator was called to the first floor landing. As the students exited, they told firefighters this seems to happen a lot with that elevator.
UW Maintenance staff arrived on scene and placed the elevator out of service for repairs.
