Narrative:

The Madison Fire Department responded just after 2 am to a house fire in the 200 block of Memphis Avenue on the east side of Madison. While en route numerous reports of heavy smoke and an active fire were reported to responders. Upon arrival Engine 8 found the front part of the home engulfed in flames. They began a fire attack while Ladder 8 and Medic 8 did a search of the home to make sure that there were no people trapped inside. The fire was quickly extinguished due to the rapid deployment of the hose line by Engine 8. The home was then ventilated to remove smoke and the fire area was checked to ensure that the fire had not extended to any additional parts of the house. An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire. At this time there are no estimates of the cost of the damage to the home. The three residents of the home have been displaced and the Red Cross is assisting them as needed to find temporary accommodations.
