Narrative:

Residents were displaced from a 16-unit condominium complex this evening following a structure fire on Luanne Lane.

The Madison Fire Department was dispatched to the Christopher Terrace Condominiums (2127 Luann Lane) at 2:34 p.m. for reports of smoke coming from one of the condos. Smoke was showing from the two-story complex when Ladder Company 6 arrived on scene. Firefighters went on to find active fire showing from a balcony. That fire also spread through the attic of the building. Crews achieved initial knockdown of the fire at 2:57 p.m.

All units within the adjoining complex (2125 and 2127 Luanne Lane) are currently uninhabitable. At least nineteen people and several pets are displaced; however, there were no injuries or fatalities. Madison Metro Transit provided a warming bus for displaced occupants waiting to retrieve essential items from their homes. The American Red Cross provided assistance to some residents.

Damage estimates are not available at this time. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
