Fire Discovered In Apartment After Neighbors Report Hearing Smoke Alarm
Madison, WI
MFD responded to an apartment complex on Fordem Avenue following reports of smoke alarms sounding in the building. Medic 10 arrived first on scene and reported no smoke or fire showing outside. Engine Co. 3 arrived next and assumed command. Firefighters entered the building and located the unit in question. Inside they found light smoke banking down, as well as a small fire burning in the corner of the living room. Nobody was home at the time. Using a water can extinguisher, Engine 3 put out the fire, which was situated on an end table near melted candles and an incense holder. The crew confirmed the fire had not spread to the nearby furniture or walls, and the damaged end table was taken outside. Firefighters ventilated the apartment to clear the smoke, and property management was notified of the incident.
