Narrative: 

The cause of a fire that sent crews to a building under construction on Manufacturers Drive is under investigation.

911 callers reported the fire at 11:00 a.m. indicating the fire was on the roof, and black smoke coming from the site. Witnesses also reported a number of construction workers were on the roof. 

Engine Company 8 and Engine Company 11 arrived on scene at 11:07 a.m. By then, the last of the construction workers were climbing down from the roof. No injuries were reported.

Crews initiated a defensive fire attack, with Ladder Company 8 and Ladder Company 1 sustaining fire attack until any persistent hot spots amid the roofing, insulation, and other construction materials were thoroughly extinguished.

Initial knockdown was declared at 12:01 p.m., and crews ceased firefighting operations at 12:31 p.m.

Damage estimates are not available at this time.
