Address:
1200 block East Gorham St.
Madison, WI 53703
Narrative:

Firefighters paid a visit to an apartment on East Gorham Street after carbon monoxide (CO) alarms began sounding there. The resident was waiting outside when Engine Company 1 arrived. She said she wasn't feeling ill, though CO alarms started going off after about 45 minutes of cooking.

Firefighters detected initial CO readings of 30 parts per million in the apartment. They made sure the oven was off as they checked the rest of the four-unit building. They found no other CO readings.

MGE was called to the address as Engine 1 began ventilating the apartment. MGE determined the stove was unsafe for use and instructed the tenant not to use it until she gets a replacement.
