Arrival:
Sunday, July 12, 2015 - 8:09pm
Address:
1100 block N. Sherman Ave.
Madison, WI
Narrative:

A northside resident had just turned their back on the oven when its door exploded open Sunday night, knocking the resident into the nearby cabinets and then into a wall. A witness told Engine 10 he saw a small amount of flames come out of the stove as it happened. The flames self-extinguished and did not spread to any combustible items in the area.

Paramedics checked on the patient to assess injuries. The resident was shaken up but didn't report any pain as a result of the fall.

Occupants say they haven’t had previous issues with the oven, and they denied using any cleaning chemicals inside of it recently. There were no gas appliances in the unit.

Engine 10's crew disconnected the oven from the wall and arranged to have it examined by maintenance before they left the scene.
