Fire Department

The Madison Fire Department responded to a fire on Oakland Avenue Thursday afternoon. A neighbor first noticed smoke in the area. After tracing it to a fire on the front porch of a residence, he kicked the burning items off the porch to prevent the fire from engulfing the rest of the porch.  

Engine Co. 4 was on scene shortly thereafter and extinguished the fire, as well as hot spots still remaining on the porch. The fire resulted in damage to the porch, some of the siding on the house, and a window.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire, and nobody was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
