Firefighters confirmed a leak in a natural gas line upon being called to a residence on Grant Street.

Engine Company 4 responded after a resident said he smelled an odor of gas in the basement. A new wash machine was just installed in the basement earlier that day, and he wondered if the gas smell might be related.

Firefighters entered the laundry room and did detect oxygen displacement on their handheld air monitor. MGE responded to narrow down the source of the leak, confirming there was a leak in a valve leading to the wash machine. MGE switched out the valve and capped off the leak.
