Fire Department

Engine 8 responded to a dumpster fire. Upon arrival, E8 found a Waste Management metal dumpster with the contents on fire. The dumpster was located outside of a small (10'x15') gated area in the parking lot. A second dumpster (not involved in fire) was located inside the gated area. The gated area was not in close proximity to any structures. E8 personnel extinguished the fire with tank water (foam mixture). After extinguishment and overhaul, E8 was approached by an individual who stated that he had been grilling at about 4:00 pm with a small charcoal grill. At around 5:00 pm, he dumped the coals into the dumpster. E8 contacted the on-call investigator and relayed the above information.
