Arrival:

Address:
Interstate 90-westbound
Madison, WI
Narrative:

The Madison Fire Department was dispatched to westbound Interstate 90 for an overturned dump truck.

The driver said he slammed on the brakes and veered toward a ditch in order to avoid a collision after the vehicle in front of him abruptly came to a halt. Although the truck initially came to a rest on the edge of the highway, the uneven ground underneath caused the dump truck to turn onto its side, pinning the driver inside.

A passerby climbed into the passenger cab and assisted the driver to a sitting position. Engine Company 14 helped the man out of the truck. He did not suffer life-threatening injuries but requested that Medic 8 take him to the hospital for a complete evaluation.

No further hazards remained, and MFD turned the scene over to Wisconsin State Patrol.
