Narrative: 

Ladder 6, Medic 6, and Command Car 31 were dispatched to the westbound Beltline highway (U.S. Highway 12) at Park Street for a SUV-versus-semi crash.

Paramedics made contact with the driver of the SUV, who had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. There was significant damage to the vehicle and the driver was pinned inside as a result. Firefighters began extrication operations at 3:40 a.m. and successfully and safely removed the driver from the vehicle at 4:00 a.m. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.

A second ambulance was called to the scene at the request of the semi driver, who wished to be looked at but denied the need for further emergency medical care.

Law enforcement officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
