Fire Department

The Madison Fire Department’s Heavy Urban Rescue Team (HURT) determined there was no threat of building collapse after a vehicle crashed into the UW Credit Union at 3750 University Avenue.

Multiple MFD crews were dispatched to the scene, where the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was evaluated by Medic 4. She was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Firefighter/Paramedics disconnected the car battery and established a safe area around the car and building. The MFD HURT responded to examine the structural integrity of the building, determining there was no concern for collapse.

Shorewood Police and UW Police remained on the scene.
