Arrival:
Sunday, June 10, 2018 - 7:19am
Address:
S. Fair Oaks Avenue & Dixon Street
Madison, WI
Narrative:

The persistent smell of gasoline drove one east-side resident to call on the Madison Fire Department to investigate.

Engine Company 3 responded to the intersection of S. Fair Oaks Avenue and Dixon Street. Initial deployment of the crew’s multi-gas detector showed no readings, but upon further investigation Engine 3 did locate a high hoe parked in the area with a leaking ball valve. The leak was causing diesel to spill from the high hoe. Firefighters retrieved some absorbent mats already on site to keep the spill contained.

The construction company which owns the high hoe was notified of the leak, and a superintendent soon arrived to arrange for a crew to take care of the rest of the cleanup.
