Narrative:

A bicyclist suffered injuries Thursday morning after a motorist, who did not see the cyclist approaching, opened his door in front of the cyclist.

Engine Company 4 and Medic 4 responded to Arbor Drive just after 10:30 a.m., where a cyclist had been traveling at an estimated 15 miles per hour when a motorist opened the driver's side door. The collision sent the cyclist airborne over the door before he landed in the street. The patient reportedly lost consciousness briefly, but he was alert and oriented by the time EMTs and paramedics arrived to render care. The cyclist was transported to UW Hospital.
