Address:
400 block Commerce Drive
Madison, WI 53719
Narrative:

Multiple 911 callers reported an outside fire on a construction site next to the Princeton Club-West Monday evening.

Engine Company 12, Ladder Company 7, and other west side fire crews responded to the area, finding an open-flame heater enclosed inside a clear plastic tarp. The flame was not contained within the heater as it should have been.

Ladder Company 7 cut open the tarp to get a clear view of the heater. Firefighters found the gas supply line to the heater was disconnected and burning. Engine Company 12 reached into the tarp and closed the gas valve on the supply line, which extinguished the fire.

Prior to leaving the scene, firefighters patched up the tarp and shut off the propane tank supply valves. They also removed the faulty gas line from the area to ensure no one returning to the site Tuesday morning would simply turn the gas line back on without further inspection.

The fire remained confined to the area of the heater. There was no damage to the construction.
