Arrival:
Monday, June 28, 2021 - 10:56am
Address:
2000 block Van Hise Avenue
Madison, WI
Narrative:

One person found themselves stranded 40 feet in the air when the rented hydraulic lift they were using simply stopped working. Work was being done to take down a tree after it suffered some recent storm damage.

Engine Co. 4 responded, and soon Ladder Co. 1 and Ladder Co. 7 – with its aerial platform “bucket” – were added to the call. Ladder Co. 7 set up and sent two firefighters up in their aerial platform to reach the individual on the lift.

The worker donned safety equipment at the direction of firefighters and he climbed aboard Ladder 7’s aerial platform. All three were safely lowered to the ground. Altogether, the worker was stranded in the bucket for approximately 45 minutes. He was not injured.

Engine Co. 4 remained on scene until the owner of the rented lift arrived to diagnose the problem and lower the lift to the ground.
