Fire Department

A Troy Drive resident was heating a pot of oil on the stove when he removed the lid and grease ignited. He removed the pot from the stove and spilled oil onto the carpet just before setting the heated pot onto the carpet.
 
Engine Company 10 and several other Madison Fire Department crews responded to the address. By the time firefighters entered the apartment, the occupant smothered the fire with a towel and placed the pot in the kitchen sink.
 
The fire did not extend to kitchen cabinetry, and the occupant was not displaced.
