Narrative:

Engine Company 13 responded to a residence on the 500 block of North Star Drive after a dryer caught on fire. The tenant deployed a fire extinguisher prior to firefighters’ arrival but wasn’t sure if the fire was entirely out.

As Engine Company 13 proceeded to the laundry room, the light smoke inside the house became thicker and more acrid. The clothes dryer had a smoldering pile of clothes in it, which firefighters removed and brought out to the back of the garage, where the clothes reignited into flames. They doused the clothes with water from the houses’ garden hose, and the dryer was unplugged from the wall and the vent pipe.

Firefighters confirmed there was no fire extension in the basement, and they ventilated the home to clear the air. The dryer was removed from the home and will need to be replaced.
