Narrative: 

A household of six was displaced by a garage fire that caused an estimated $5000 in damages. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Engine Co. 5 and other east side crews responded to the 1000 block of N. Thompson Drive after multiple 911 callers reported smoke coming from the garage of a duplex. Firefighters observed flames showing and smoke coming from the edges of the garage door when they arrived on scene at 4:18 p.m.

Crews put forth a swift and aggressive fire attack, achieving initial knockdown at 4:24 p.m. Fire damage was contained to the garage. Smoke damage extended into the interior living space of the duplex, forcing the displacement of two adults and four children. The American Red Cross assisted the displaced family in finding temporary accommodations.

There were no injuries resulting from this fire.
