Fire Department

On its way to an EMS call, Ladder 8 came across a vehicle fire on East Washington Ave. Engine 8 arrived to find a landscaping pick-up truck with bales of hay on the open bed. Though witnesses and a Madison police officer were able to extinguish the flames, the bales were still smoldering considerably when firefighters arrived. Firefighters removed the bales from the truck and extinguished the smoldering material with foam.
 
One passenger reported flicking cigarette ashes through the rear cab window, which opens onto the truck bed, just before the fire began. MFD believes this is most likely the cause of the fire.
 
Nobody was injured, but there was minor damage to the pick-up truck and some of the tools and supplies on board.
