Address:
2600 block Fish Hatchery Road
Madison, WI 53713
Narrative:

A Madison man had his eye on a 2008 Subaru Outback. He might have even purchased it, if not for the test drive that went awry.

The man told firefighters he’d just been taking the car for a spin when he was traveling along Fish Hatchery Road and noticed the car seemed to lose power. At times lurching forward, other times not responding to a push of the gas pedal, something wasn’t right. That’s when he noticed smoke coming from under the hood. He pulled over behind a Jiffy Lube, got out of the car, and saw flames.

Ladder Company 6 arrived to find flames coming out from under the front end of the car and through the front bumper area. Firefighters grabbed a hose line and extinguished the fire with a combination of water and foam. The exact cause of the vehicle fire is undetermined.

The man contacted the vehicle's owner and had him respond to the scene. The owner says the vehicle was not insured. Nobody was injured.
