Fire Department

Several EMS and fire crews responded to 2817 E. Washington Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. There, a sedan had crashed through the front of the building after the driver experienced a medical incident in the parking lot and lost control of her vehicle. 

Three passengers were able to exit the vehicle, but the driver remained trapped and injured. The passengers stayed with paramedics as firefighters extricated the driver from the sedan. She was transported to a local hospital.

Crews examined the structural stability of the building and found no need for emergency stabilization. Public Health Madison-Dane County was notified of the incident, as the property serves as a shared commercial kitchen space for local food vendors.
