Address:
300 W. Dayton St.
Madison, WI 53703
Narrative:

On Monday, February 7th, Firefighters from Engine 1 responded to a fire alarm sounding at 314 W. Dayton Street shortly after 12:00 pm. Evacuation was taking place in the mixed-use 12-story high-rise building as crews entered the building.

Firefighters were led by building maintenance personnel to the electrical panel room, where they found about a foot and a half of standing water. A high voltage room vault also had standing water, which was adjacent to the electrical panel room. Firefighters could hear water flowing from the fire pump room and upon entry, they found a pipe from a water softener had broken free and was flowing water into the three rooms.

Firefighters stopped the water flow, taped the area off and had MG&E dispatched to Dayton Street. MG&E took over the scene after the Lieutenant told them of their findings.

No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
