Fire Department

A full structure fire response was dispatched to an apartment complex on Bridge Road for a report of smoke in the basement laundry room.
 
Medic 6 and Ladder 6 arrived on scene to investigate. Together they found light smoke and the smell of burning rubber. A washing machine was running but not spinning, and a large wet towel was found inside. Firefighters determined belt that connects to the motor was broken, and this was likely due to the heavy load inside the basin.
 
Ladder 6 ventilated the basement to clear out the smoke, and property management will make arrangements for repairs.
