Narrative:

Two vehicles were damaged by fire after heavy winds blew burning leaves into the street. The cause of the fire is unknown but is believed to be accidental.

Ladder Co. 6 was dispatched to the area of Post Road and Traceway Drive Saturday afternoon where thick smoke filled the street. Law enforcement closed the street to while firefighters accessed a nearby hydrant. Some residents used garden hoses and pots of water to try to help contain the fire. The fire grew quickly as the wind blew burning leaves into the street, causing more leaves to ignite. As a result, flames spread underneath parked vehicles along Traceway Drive and two vehicles caught on fire. Ladder 6 began fire attack followed by a thorough overhaul of all nearby piles of leaves. The vehicles’ owners were notified of the incident.

The Madison Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Team responded to the scene. The team concluded the cause of the fire could not be determined, but witness interviews and review of private security camera footage did not reveal any suspicious activity prior to the fire.
