Incident Type:
Outdoor
Dispatch:
Thursday, July 6, 2017 - 5:18pm
Arrival:
Thursday, July 6, 2017 - 5:26pm
Address:
800 block Valley Road
Madison, WI 53703
Narrative:

A Valley Road resident was unaware of Madison’s burning rules as they set fire to branches and leaves. They’d just finished trimming trees earlier that day.

Engine 13 was called after the fire produced thick smoke in the area. Firefighters provided them a copy of Madison’s Outdoor and Open Burning rules and explained that only clean, dry wood can be burned, never leaves.

The resident understood the guidelines, and they put out the fire with a garden hose.
