Narrative:

Three people were displaced when a fire damaged their apartment in the 2800 block of Cimarron Trail Friday evening.  Fire units were dispatched to a working structure fire at 6:29 pm.

Firefighters from Station 7 arrived on scene first and reported heavy smoke conditions in the apartment and a small fire burning in the kitchen.  Using a small amount of water, they knocked down the flames and contained the fire damage to the area around the stove.

Firefighters used fans to remove smoke from the apartment and checked to make sure the fire did not extend into the walls.

Fire damage was limited to the stove, microwave and cabinets above and adjacent to the stove.  Smoke damage was noted throughout the apartment's first floor.

No injuries were reported at the scene.  Smoke alarms in the apartment sounded and warned the residents of the fire.  Fire investigators have determined that the fire originated in the kitchen and it was unintentional.

The fire caused approximately $10,000 to the building contents.  The displaced residents are staying with family.
