Crews responded to a car that crashed into a building shortly after 4:00 pm on Tuesday, at the Baymont Inn & Suites on 8100 block of Excelsior Drive.

When firefighters arrived, they found a single car against the building with airbags deployed. The single occupant was transported to UW Hospital by Medic 2 with non-life threating injuries.

Upon entering the building, crews found the drywall was cracked on the interior of the building where the car made contact. After further investigating the extent of the damage, firefighters found minor structural damage to the building.

Fire crews remained on the scene until the car was removed from the building by Schmidt’s Towing. Firefighters found the brick façade to be damaged on the exterior of the building after the car was pulled from the building.

Firefighters turned the building over to the general manager of the hotel.
