“The List,” a documentary film directed by Beth Murphy introduces the audience to an American by the name of Kirk Johnson who when 24-years old moves to Iraq to work for USAID. Kirk comes to learn that many of his Iraqi colleagues who worked for the US military as interpreters and other support personnel became targets for persecution on account of their past work with the US government. Kirk starts a campaign to lobby the US government to offer protection to these Iraqis. After the film, we will listen to a short public radio broadcast on Afghans in similar circumstances, meet a Wisconsin veteran who helped bring some Iraqis to America, and engage in discussion.
