Cherokee Marsh: Signs of Winter Life with Mary Young
School Naturalist Mary Young will help you look for signs of life - birds flying, tracks in the snow, holes in trees, and the location of the hibernaculum. Learn about how birds and animals have evolved survival strategies including migration, hibernation, dormancy, stashing food reserves and other strategies for life outdoors in a Wisconsin winter.

Free, family-friendly Bird and Nature Walks are offered year-round on Sunday afternoons 1:30-3:00 pm. Discover the hidden natural areas in four of Madison's most beautiful parks and conservancies. Volunteer trip leaders and participants share their enthusiasm about nature and the birds, plants, and animals. Walks are on easy paths through scenic areas. Enjoy healthy nature recreation with a bit of nature education!

No registration is required. Please wear appropriate clothing, insect repellant, and footwear for the weather and hiking. Dogs are not allowed. Binoculars, cameras and children are welcome! For more information or to volunteer, contact Paul Noeldner (608) 698-0104.
