Muslim voices are often unheard, and Muslim love stories are even more distant; but doesn't everyone love? The stories from the captivating book Love, InshaAllah, edited by Nura Maznavi and Ayesha Mattu, gives you the glimpse of the diversity of Muslim women's love lives in America, while showcasing the nuances of being Muslim, and the human emotions around the complexity of love. Each story is written by a Muslim American woman, and intersects with different aspects of their identity and journey in life.
Join in a discussion of Love, InshaAllah; The Secret Love Lives of American Muslim Women. Copies of the book are available in the library on a first-come, first-served basis.
While we encourage you to read all the stories, our discussion will be around the following chapters: The Opening; Love in the Time of Biohazards; The Hybrid Dance; Rerouting; Last Night on the Island; Shalom to Salam; Three; Brain Meets Heart.
Discussions facilitated by members of the Library Takeover planning team, including Maria Ahmad, Syed Umar Warsi, Mouna Algahaithi, and Asmahan Sandokji.
Library Takeover is made possible with support from the Madison Public Library Foundation, Marvin J. Levy, and the Kline Foundation.
