Wingra Park Path Replacement

Last Updated: 08/30/2021

Parks Division is replacing the asphalt path through Wingra Park in 2021.  The existing path was in poor condition and in need of replacement. The old path was approximately 8' wide and the new path width will be increased to 12' to accommodate the high pedestrian and bicycle traffic this site sees as part of well traveled Lake Wingra loop.  Grading and drainage improvements will also take place near the path in order to create a more durable park path and grass surface.  A preliminary plan can be seen below.

Bicycle and pedestrian traffic is being detoured around the project, please use the marked detour route.   Access to the playground is expected to be disrupted during construction, please do not cross any orange construction fencing.
One lane of Monroe st is to be closed to accommodate the bicycle and pedestrian detour, this marked detour creates a marked and protected bike lane on Monroe st to use during construction.

The City has hired Daniels Construction to complete the work.   Work is currently underway and the project is expected to be complete by Sept 19th.
