Parking

Beginning on Monday, March 21st, Madison Gas and Electric will begin underground gas line work on N Carroll St between State St and W Washington Ave.  The parking lane on the right side of the street and the bus lane will be closed.  The parking lane on the left side of the street and the travel lane adjacent to that parking lane will remain open.
 
The following week, on Monday March 28th, S&L Underground will begin the city contract work to reconstruct the north half of the Capital Square.  From March 28th until May 1st, work will take place between Wisconsin Ave and W Washington Ave with intermittent closures of the Wisconsin Ave and Mifflin St intersection.
 
The Monday following the Crazylegs race (Monday, May 2nd), work will begin on N Pinckney St and E Mifflin St between E Washington Ave and Wisconsin Ave.  There will be intermittent weekday closures of the Wisconsin Ave and Mifflin St intersection and the N Hamilton St and Pinckney St intersection.     
 
The Dane County Farmers’ Market will operate as usual.
 
Temporary pavement will be put down in order for Art Fair on the Square to operate as usual on July 9th and 10th. 
 
Throughout the project, the parking lane on the left side and the travel lane adjacent to it will remain open with the exception of two separate three week closures.  Wisconsin Ave to W Washington Ave will be closed to traffic for three weeks in June.  E Washington Ave to Wisconsin Ave will be closed for three weeks in July.
 
The estimated completion date for the section between Wisconsin Ave and W Washington Ave is early July.  The estimated completion date for the section between E Washington Ave and Wisconsin Ave is mid August. 
 
Metro Transit will detour off the north half of the Capital Square beginning Monday, March 21st.  The detour route can be found here:
