The Streets Division will be returning to normal operations on Monday, February 4.

Scheduled Collections: Large Items, Trash, and Recycling
Collections of large items, trash, and recycling will resume their normal scheduled collections.

To learn when the large item, refuse, and trash collection days are, use the collection schedule for your neighborhood. The 2019 collection schedule is available on the Streets Division website, www.cityofmadison.com/collectionschedule.

To the learn the rules about what can be recycled, and which large items require recycling fees, check out the Streets Division website or consult the Recyclopedia. Paper copies of the Recyclopedia can be mailed to residents upon request.

Drop-off Sites
The Streets Division drop-off sites at 4602 Sycamore Ave. and 1501 W. Badger Rd. will reopen at 7:30am on Monday, February 4.

The drop-off sites will be on winter hours, which means the sites will be open 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Expanded summer hours begin on Saturday, March 30.

Christmas Tree Collection
The second and final collection round of curbside Christmas tree collection will begin on February 4. Residents who wish to use this collection service must have their trees on the terrace by 7:00 a.m. February 4.

The final round of tree collection may take a couple weeks to complete. The speed crews can work depends on weather conditions, number of trees set out, and personnel availability. Please have the tree to the curb by 7:00am on February 4 and crews will be around as soon as possible to collect it.

In order for a tree to be collected it must be:

• Free from any obstructions
• Pulled free from the accumulated snow and ice along the curb
• Disconnected from its tree stand
• Not within a bag
• Free from decorations such as lights.

Trees that are frozen in the snow will not be collected. Trees that are still attached to their tree stands, contain decorations, placed within a bag, or otherwise inaccessible will also be left behind.

If you place your tree to the curb after 7:00 a.m. February 4, it may not be collected until the start of the regular brush pick-up season in the spring.

Wreaths, boughs, garlands and other evergreen ornaments will not be collected by tree pickup crews. These items belong in the tan trash container because they likely contain wires that may damage the tree processing equipment at the brush processing center, and these evergreen ornaments may contain an invasive species.
