City of Madison Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 4102 Green Ave. today.

As crews headed to the scene, additional callers advised that both smoke and flames were visible from the exterior.

Engine 10 arrived on location and noted visible smoke and flames. Firefighters stretched a hose line for extinguishment. Upon performing a rapid search of the residence, Engine 10 reported all occupants had exited the home.

E10 then performed a rapid attack on the body of the fire. Engine 10 requested the assistance of the first due ladder company to assist with overhaul. Ladder 8 proceeded to open up the chimney space from the exterior. Engine 3 assisted in the overhaul of the inside of residence by pulling the drywall on the ceiling and walls, looking for hidden fire in walls.

Engine 3 located fire within this space and quickly extinguished it.

Additional responding companies were returned. Engine 10 and Ladder 8 remained on scene and sealed the building to minimize any further damage from outdoor elements.

Damages are estimated at $10,000.
