Madison Mayor Paul Soglin, 1st District Alder Lisa Subeck, and 20th District Alder Matt Phair announced today that the City of Madison will provide funding for continuation of the Elver Park Fireworks this summer. Private funding for the event was lost, but for this year’s event, the City will finance the neighborhood show.

"While a downtown Rhythm and Booms on June 28 is sure to be a spectacular event, the neighbors of Elver Park spoke out regarding their wishes for a neighborhood event," said Mayor Soglin. "For this year, the City is able to fund this event, in the future we look forward to working with the Alders and neighbors on the Southwest side, to find a more sustainable source of funding."

1st District Alder Lisa Subeck said, "The Elver Park fireworks have been a longstanding tradition on the southwest side and provide a great opportunity to bring families in our diverse neighborhoods together. I am thrilled that we will continue the tradition this year and look forward to many years to
come."

"On behalf of my constituents, I am very happy that Elver Park will have a fireworks show again this summer," said 20th District Alder Matt Phair. "I look forward to working with my colleagues and members of our community to create a sustainable funding model so this wonderful tradition can continue well into the future."

Madison Parks Department has contracted with Bartolotta Fireworks Company for the display and Madison Police officers will be involved in maintaining a safe environment for the July 3rd show.

Neighbors in the Warner Park area are planning a smaller neighborhood event as well. The Madison Mallards are providing a small fireworks show for that July 5th event.
