Register now to attend the Silver Lining Awards on May 12, 2022

Creativity was pushed to new lengths throughout 2020/21. Madison Arts Commission (MAC), in partnership with Garver Events and presented by Friends of Madison Arts Commission (FoMAC) will honor individuals and organizations who shifted their practices to persevere through the pandemic. With more than 100 nominations received for 80 unique nominees, there are many wonderful stories to tell. Twenty local individuals, non-profits, and businesses will be honored for creativity, dedication, and perseverance that brought “silver linings” to Madison throughout COVID-19 in the areas of: Arts, Hospitality, and Community. The selected honorees will receive a Silver Lining award designed by local artist, TetraPAKMAN.

"Through acts large and small, Madisonians showcased their full spectrum of creativity and generosity during the past 20 months,” commented Kia Karlen, FoMAC Board Chair. “Friends of Madison Arts Commission can't wait to celebrate with our community to honor everyone who added silver linings to a challenging time."

Honorees gave you something to look forward to during a monotonous pandemic. They expertly pivoted, kept the arts alive, kept a business afloat, expanded their practice, helped keep others safe, innovated. They modeled creativity in the broadest sense.

Ironically, the event was originally scheduled to take place in January of 2022, but the Omicron variant forced organizers to reschedule. The bigger and better rescheduled event will take place on May 12 at Garver Feed Mill and will feature performances by Yid Vicious and Cycropia Aerial Dance, and an after party with DJ Femme Noir. Lilada Gee's “Defending Black Girlhood” mural will be exhibited, and the evening will culminate with the global premier of the short documentary "Winter is Alive" by Aaron Granat and Gracie Wallner.

We hope you will be able to join us for the Silver Lining Awards event on May 12 at Garver Feed Mill. Tickets are available on a sliding scale, ranging from free to $620, with all proceeds benefiting FoMAC’s work to continue to uplift the arts in Madison and support the work of the Madison Arts Commission. Tickets are available on the FoMAC website.
