The MFD is on the move
posted
As of today, Fire Station #1 at 316 W. Dayton Street is temporarily closed for remodeling. We have relocated the 12-person crews who work from that station to locations around the downtown area. We do not anticipate any interruption or delays in service based on the resource allocations.
We have moved the Ladder Company to Fire Station #4 on Monroe Street. The Command Car and Medic #1 (ambulance) have moved to Fire Station #3 on Williamson Street. And the Engine Company and Lake Rescue team have relocated to a Madison Gas and Electric facility located at 650 E. Main Street. To ensure response time coverage of the ambulances, we also moved Medic 9 on Midvale Blvd. to Station #4 on Monroe Street.
The Station 1 remodel project will begin within a few days, and we are anticipating the relocation of units for about 6 to 9 months. If everything goes as planned, we should have Station #1 back in service by the end of the year! Service to our residents is still, and will always be, our number 1 priority.
