Recruit Class 6I am excited to announce the graduation of the Madison Fire Department's Recruit Class 6. They will graduate from our fire academy in a ceremony held this Friday, December 15, 2017.

This group has met the physical and educational competencies needed to continue on in the department for a long and healthy career.

Over the coming weeks you will have a chance to meet the new city servants through the MFD Blog. I think you'll be amazed at the diverse life experiences that each of them brings to our fire department and city. They were selected from a pool of over 1600 applicants, and each presented themselves in alignment with the core values of our organization.

Honesty, integrity, care, compassion, and respect are the core values that we demand they maintain in their life. Each of them have promised to live by these core values both on and off duty.

Class 6 has spent the last 16 weeks in very challenging mental and physical environments. We have pushed them to their limits at times, both in the classroom and the fire ground. The training staff has done an exceptional job preparing these 17 individuals to be ready to serve their community starting on their first day in the station.

I'm excited to welcome Class 6 into the MFD family. I hope they all have a safe, healthy, and successful career.
